Aerospace Engineering Fall Field Trip 2024
The Aerospace Engineering class went to Albertus Airport on the morning of Oct 4th, 2024. The class is taught by Mr. Stauffer and consists of 14 students. They were met by Angie Janssen, airport manager, and aerospace engineer Graham Bradbury who stood in front of his own airplane, a Piper Dakota P-28. Graham helped students review the concepts that create stable flight and demonstrated the surfaces that control the aircraft. Students could then sit in the cockpit to get an up-close view of the dashboard and try out the plane controls. The remainder of the field trip consisted of students asking our hosts questions about aviation, some of which related to steps in obtaining a pilot license and available jobs while training. Students loaded the activity bus for lunch at Culver’s in Freeport before returning to school for homecoming activities in the afternoon.
